Cecilia's Dress 2

Last night I finished the hand sewing on her dress and all that is left is the buttons, buttonholes and hem. They are coming home on Thursday so she should be able to try it on Friday. I started cutting out the pelisse this morning. I am making it out of a wine coloured organdy. It is a pain to cut out it wiggles about constantly. I ended up messing up one of the side back pieces and had to cut it out again. I ended up cutting those out separately. I am not sure exactly how I will be doing it but I guess the easiest will be to just line it with the same fabric so I don't have to worry about any hems. I used a candle and burned the edges of the skirt so they might be easier to work with while hemming. Still have the back and fronts to cut out for lining.

Cecilia's Dress

I started making a dress to give to Cecilia for her birthday and I have done most of it as of today. I mostly have hand sewing left, hem and buttons. I will have to wait to put the buttons and hem in when she gets home so she can try it on. I made it from the Sense and Sensibility girls Regency Dress pattern that I have made dresses from in the past. This time I made it size 10 since she got size 8 last year and it just fits her now. I found some light weight cotton print fabric at the fabric store in town cheap and she really loved it so that is what I am making it out of. I was worried that this fabric would be cheap and ravel a lot but it seems to be working out great. I will be making a sheer pelisse out of a wine coloured organdy for her to go with it. I modified the pattern to give a gathered affect to the bodice and made the front skirt straight and gathered the back skirt like an adult dress. I wanted to make it with long sleeves but she doesn't like long sleeves so they are short
